To raise awareness about the importance of protecting the environment, Konica Minolta joined hands with the Business Environment Council (BEC) in organising the Journey of Exploring the T∙PARK on Saturday, 23 February 2019. This activity was well attended by the volunteer team members of Konica Minolta, as well as the primary and secondary school students from the Principal Chan Free Tutorial World. They not only understood how advanced sludge incinerators helped to tackle imminent waste problem in Hong Kong, but also built a sense of caring about the earth.

T∙PARK is an important step in Hong Kong’s waste-to-energy journey. With an advanced incineration system, T·PARK can reduce the volume of sludge by up to 90%, which substantially reduce the loading on landfills where sludge used to be disposed of. In addition, the heat generated can be recovered for electricity generation to meet on-site operational needs.

Via this eco-tour, the participants visited various facilities in T∙PARK including sludge incinerators, power generation units and T∙Gallery. They learned about how the advanced sludge incinerators “transform wastes-to-energy” in Hong Kong, and also visited various educational and recreational facilities such as the T∙Garden and T∙Roof to understand the importance of environment conservation.

Konica Minolta will continue to organise and participate in upcoming environment-related educational activities which can promote sustainable development towards young people with the aim of conserving our natural scenery for the next generations.
